An OEM optical backscatter sensor suitable for integration into multi-parameter platforms. The OBS-3+ (NEW for 2005) has two gain ranges spanning 0-5,000mg/l (for mud) and 0-50g/l for sand. Both gain ranges are available on separate channels at all times so detailed data during periods of low turbidity and data at times of high turbidity will not be missed. The OBS-3+ is a compact, low power sensor capable of providing either a voltage or current output. Depth ratings available are either 500m or 2000m. See the OBS-3+ below.

A self-contained suspended solids sensor with options for pressure, temperature and salinity sensors. Powered by three alkaline 'D' cells providing up to 8,000 hours running time. Internal flash memory capable of recording 200,000 records. With the pressure sensor fitted, water depth, wave height and wave period can be logged. The system can also be used in real time suitable for dedge-spill and effluent monitoring. Capable of monitoring sediment concentrations up to 5,000mg/l (for mud). Depth rated to 300m. D & A Instrument Company - Laser System for High Sediment Loads - OBS-5
A real-time system for monitoring very high sediment concentrations up to 100g/l making it ideal for dredge-spill monitoring and determining dredge-head efficiencies. The system uses an infrared laser and two detectors controlled by microprocessors. Optional pressure, salinity and temperature sensors can be fitted enabling pressure and water density corrections to be made. The data are both stored and displayed in real-time to a PC. The maximum data sampling rate is 7Hz. See picture below.
