HydroC - Chemical & Gas - Contros

A range of submersible sensors based upon an optical detection principle that is receptive to a number of specific light hydrocarbons including Methane (CH4), Butane (C4H10), Mono Ethylene Glycol and the gas Carbon Dioxide.

  • Low detection limits
  • Unaffected by turbidity or interference from other gaseous substances
  • Long term stability with high accuracy
  • Optical technology with a proven track record
  • Depth rating to 6000m

The HydroC optical system measures, by a non-dispersive infrared spectrometry (NDIR) system, molecules that have diffused from the water column through the sensor membrane. The compact, self contained sensor unit performs all detection and analysis processes and outputs a continuous stream of processed data in both digital and analogue formats.

Versions of the HydroC family are configured to measure Methane (CH4), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) and Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) including BETX plus Fumic and Amino acids.

Applications for this versatile range of sensors include in-situ and on-line monitoring, offshore pipeline inspection and leak detection, exploration of new oil & gas deposits, decommissioning of offshore installations, ocean acidification, carbon capture and storage, process monitoring and risk management. The HydroC sensor is ideally suited for ROV and AUV integration.
